Requirements for Program Application

Minimum GPA for Application

 

 A. CGPA must be over 2.5 on a 4.0 (CGPA 2.7 on a 4.3)

 B. ECTS (C or above)

 C. In a letter grade system: B or above (Good or above) 

 

 

English Language Requirement:

 

    A. TOEFL score must be a minimum of 550 in PBT, 213 in CBT, or 79 in IBT.

    B. IELTS score must be 6 or above.

*Note: English native speakers / English degree program students are exempted from submitting the official score certificate as a part of application material.

 

 

Semester Fulfillment Requirement:

 

This program is open to 4-year college or university student who are currently studying at their home universities as full-time students, and have finished 2 semesters (or the equivalent) before the nomination / application.

For transfer students, a minimum of one semester's results from the transfer university must appear on the official transcripts.

 

 

 

  Application Procedure

 

1. Contact international program office at your Home University.

2. Find out whether or not Yonsei is an approved institution for study abroad.

3. Submit the required documents to your Home University's exchange or study abroad office.

4. Your Home University will nominate students to Yonsei.

5. After Email nomination, Yonsei will receive the original documents from your Home University.

6. Official admission confirmation will be made within one month after the receipt of hard copies of student     application.

Important: Yonsei University is not responsible of any loss or penalties arising from changes in flight schedules. Therefore, it is necessary to wait for Yonsei University's official admission confirmation and the visa documents.

7. Submit the student Medical Assessment Form to Yonsei at the orientation.

 

 

 

How to Search English Courses through the Yonsei Portal System

 

 1. To begin, please visit the instruction page at http://uic.yonsei.ac.kr/inter/academic3.asp

 2. Next, go to the English Yonsei Portal site at http://portal.yonsei.ac.kr/main/indexe.jsp

 3. Through the Yonsei English Website: http://www.yonsei.ac.kr/eng/academics/colleges/ College > select Major > click on 'Courses'

  * Note : Course offerings for an upcoming semester will be available as follows:

   -   Fall semester (2nd Semester) : around the 2nd week of June.

   -   Spring semester (1st Semester) : around the 2nd week of November.

  * Note : ¨è in the reference column means the course is offered in English.
 * Note : Since there is a limit to the number of students who can be enrolled in all courses offered at Yonsei University, students should also consider preparing a list of alternative courses in case some classes reach capacity or are cancelled.

 

 

 

  Application Materials

 

Please note that the Application for Spring 2010 admission has been closed.

The online application form for Fall 2010 will be available from March 1 to April 30, 2010 .Please be advised that the required materials including a hard copy of the submitted online application form must be received by Yonsei by no later than April 30, 2010. Incomplete applications (missing documents) will not be considered for admission, even for the pre-nominated exchange students. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

2. Letter of Nomination by Home Institution   

    Visiting student nomination form download (not for exchange students)

3. Photo in jpg file (save the file as your ¡°last name_first name¡± and send it to oia@yonsei.ac.kr

4. Official Transcript(s) with CGPA with Grading Chart

5. One letter of recommendation written by a professor/lecturer¡¡

6. Study Plan (Statement of Purpose) (A4 / Letter size, minimum 250 words)¡¡

7. Proof of Medical Insurance that covers the period of stay in Korea

   ¡æ This information can be submitted after admission is confirmed by submitting the Student Medical Assessment form (SMAF), downloadable from News and Events on the first page of http://oia.yonsei.ac.kr

8. Copy of ID Page of Passport (color is preferred)

9. Certificate of Account Balance of Sponsor or Applicant (Student) or Scholarship Certificate of
the Applicant (Student) *These are required in order to demonstrate the student's ability to finance the period spent at Yonsei.

  - Minimum Account balance for 1 semester:

     exchange student USD 5,000

     visiting student     USD 10,000

     *Chinese national students must have USD 10,000 balance for both exchange and visiting.

  - Minimum Account balance for 2 semesters:

     exchange student USD 10,000

     visiting student     USD 10,000

     *Chinese national students must have USD 10,000 balance for both exchange and visiting. Also, Validity (expiration date) of the Deposit must be good until the end of term spent at Yonsei . *Please note that this is a law enforced by the Republic of Korea, and not a Yonsei University policy.

10. Language Requirement

     1) Official English language proficiency proof is required for those who will take courses

         offered in English (TOEFL, IELTS, etc.).

        (Native Speakers and Non-Native Speakers who are either undertaking their degree programs in English, or who will only take Korean language courses at KLI are exempt.)

     2) Korean language proficiency proof is required for those who will take regular courses

         offered in Korean (KLPT level 4 or above or assessment/evaluation by a professor/lecturer).

11. Application Fee of KRW 100,000 

Visiting (non-exchange) students only

12. Certified Copy of "Household Register" (ËÜÚÅûÂϢݭ)
      of student and both parents

Chinese Citizens Only (All Chinese passport holders), due to differences in the visa issuance procedure

13. Certified Copy of National ID Card (ËÜÚÅãóÝÂñû)

      of student and both parents

14. A photocopy of high school diploma

 

*Note:

All primary Materials should be written in English

(Essay or Recommendation Letter can be written in Korean)
