Introduction

 

The 8 professors in the department are actively teaching and researching in the fields of physical chemistry, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, and polymer chemistry. Through their effort, the department has earned high recognition in Korea, and their abilities can be proved by getting nationally important research grants such as BrainKorea 21 Project ('06-'13) and World Class University Project ('08-'11). Also, the Research and Education Center for Advanced Silicon Materials funded by KCC was founded in the department in 2008.

The degrees offered by the School in the graduate program are the Master of Science and the Doctor of Philosophy in the fields of physical chemistry, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, and polymer chemistry. Original research, performed under the direction of a thesis advisor, is a key element in these degrees. The thesis research helps the student develop research skills, critical judgment, originality, and independence. The outlook for the field of chemistry looks very bright as the needs of the 21st century, the demand for new materials, alternative energy sources, and new reagents, as well as concern for the environment is taking on great urgency.
